SOPRANO Open Call- Industry Demonstrators of the SOPRANO Technologies

SOPRANO is launching an open call to support SMEs and startups in the robotics sector to develop demonstrators that integrate SOPRANO technologies for multi-human, multi-robot (MH-MR) collaboration in industrial settings.

SOPRANO centers on advancing human-robot collaboration and smart multi-agent systems. Its objective is to shape the future of manufacturing floors, construction zones, and agri-food production sites, enabling smooth cooperation between people and intelligent machines. The project seeks to move beyond simple human-robot interactions by creating an integrated network of multiple robotic systems. These systems, each with different physical and cognitive skills, will work together on a range of tasks in partnership with human workers and other agents.

Type of projects to be funded: The call funds the development of industry-relevant prototypes integrating SOPRANO technologies for MH-MR collaboration in manufacturing, construction, or agriculture. The goal is to enhance robotics capabilities in dynamic environments.

Sectors / domain: Robotics applications in electronics, logistics, healthcare, packaging, metal/machining, plastic/moulding, and other justified sectors.

Individual or consortium: Applications can be submitted by single SMEs/startups or consortia of up to 3 SMEs/startups.

Specific eligibility requirements:
- Applicants must be legally established in Horizon Europe eligible countries, be SMEs or startups as per EU definitions, and have financial stability. Startups must be between 1 and 5 years old.
- Minimum starting TRL 5. Final TRL 7.
- Use of Robot Operating System ROS2 (mandatory).

Specific topics or challenges: Projects must demonstrate the integration of at least one SOPRANO technology component for MH-MR collaboration. The focus is on robot perception, AI, digital twins, human-robot interaction, and industrial automation.

Projects duration: 16 months.

Budget, funding rates and payment conditions:
- Funding rate: 70% for SMEs, 100% for startups.
- Budget conditions / limitations: Maximum €200,000 per project. SMEs must co-finance 30%.
- Payments: Delivered in instalments based on project phase completion: 10% pre-financing (1 month); 20% Design (3 months); 40% Implementation (10 months); 15% Validation and Exploitation (3 months); 15% Closure.
