ROB4GREEN Open Call 1
This open call supports consortia to develop and demonstrate AI- and robotics-based external pilots that enhance circular Re-X processes such as dismantling, remanufacturing and recycling.
Type of projects to be funded: Development and demonstration of AI- and robotics-based external pilot projects addressing greener dismantling, remanufacturing and recycling processes. Funded activities must start at minimum TRL 4 and reach TRL 7, include demonstration in real industrial environments, validation with end-users, and the use of one or two ROB4GREEN technology blocks.
Sectors / domain: Circular economy and industrial Re-X processes, including life extension, value retention, parts harvesting, decommissioning and recycling across relevant industrial sectors.
Individual or consortium: Mandatory consortium of 2 or 3 independent legal entities, composed of one SME/Startup acting as technology integrator and pilot leader, one industrial end-user acting as technology adopter, and optionally one additional organisation as technology or expertise provider (SME, mid-cap or research organisation).
Specific eligibility requirements: All entities must be established in an EU Member State, OCT linked to a Member State, or Horizon Europe Associated Country (excluding Switzerland). SMEs/Start-ups must have been established at least 12 months prior to submission. Applicants must not be members or associated partners of the ROB4GREEN consortium. A valid VAT and PIC number are required. Subcontracting is not eligible.
Specific topics or challenges: Proposals must address one of four predefined challenges: (1) AI, Data and Robotics for Life Extension; (2) AI, Data and Robotics for Value Retention; (3) AI, Data and Robotics for Parts Harvesting; (4) AI, Data and Robotics for Decommissioning and Recycling. Projects must demonstrate market potential and measurable economic and societal impact.
Projects duration: 10 months (planned from 01 June 2026 to 01 March 2027).
Budget, funding rates and payment conditions:
Funding rate: Lump sum up to €300,000 per project (covering 100% of eligible project costs).
Budget conditions / limitations: Maximum €300,000 per project; maximum €200,000 per legal entity across ROB4GREEN open calls; total OC1 budget €2,400,000; up to 8 projects to be funded.
Payments: 50% pre-financing at project start; 50% final payment after successful completion of Sprint 3 and the succesful delivery of results.
