RENEW BOOSTER - OC#2 Strand B: Open calls
Funding for SMEs to develop product innovations and diversify supply chains in photovoltaics, offshore wind and energy grids through a bottom-up open call.
TYPE OF PROJECTS TO BE FUNDED: Bottom-up innovation projects supporting product innovation and supply chain diversification in photovoltaics, offshore wind and energy grids. Eligible activities may include new or improved products and services, substitution or more efficient use of critical materials, manufacturing and process improvements, supply chain monitoring and optimisation, traceability, environmental performance improvements, and other innovations contributing to resilient and diversified clean-energy supply chains.
SECTORS / DOMAIN: Photovoltaics (PV), offshore wind, particularly floating offshore wind, and energy grids. Cross-sectoral innovations applicable to these value chains are also eligible.
INDIVIDUAL OR CONSORTIUM: SMEs may apply individually or as part of a consortium. Consortia may include a maximum of three SMEs.
SPECIFIC ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet the EU definition of an SME and be established in an EU-27 Member State or another country participating in the Single Market Programme. Proposed activities must fall within the photovoltaics, offshore wind or energy grids value chains. Projects must comply with the Do No Significant Harm principle and explicitly demonstrate alignment with the objectives of the Critical Raw Materials Act and/or the Net-Zero Industry Act. An SME may submit a maximum of one application under Strand B, whether individually or as part of a consortium.
SPECIFIC TOPICS OR CHALLENGES: Strand B is a bottom-up open call for product innovation and supply chain diversification. Applicants identify their own innovation within the photovoltaics, offshore wind or energy grids value chains, rather than responding to predefined challenges.
PROJECTS DURATION: Projects must have a duration of between 3 and 6 months from the signature of the sub-grant agreement.
BUDGET, FUNDING RATES AND PAYMENT CONDITIONS:
Funding rate: From 50% to 70% depending on the type of project.
Budget conditions / limitations: SMEs may request grants of up to €10,000, €30,000 or €60,000. Each funding level requires private co-funding, increasing from about 30% to 50% depending on the grant size. The cumulative maximum FSTP support per SME across all RENEW-BOOSTER calls is €60,000. Private co-funding must come from private financial resources and cannot consist of in-kind contributions or staff costs.
Payments: 50% of the total grant is provided as pre-financing within 30 days of contract signature. The final payment is made within 30 days of validation of the last milestone or deliverable.
