MED-HUBs Open Call for Startups
The MED-HUBS Acceleration Programme supports blue economy startups in scaling and validating innovative ocean-related solutions through mentoring, pilot testing, and market and investment readiness support.
TYPE OF PROJECTS TO BE FUNDED: Startup acceleration activities focused on the development, validation, and scaling of blue economy solutions, including MVP development and pilot testing, business development, and investment readiness support.
SECTORS / DOMAIN: Blue economy, specifically: sustainable fisheries; aquaculture and fish farming; marine renewable energy; sustainable and green maritime transport; smart ports and marinas.
INDIVIDUAL OR CONSORTIUM: Individual applicants (startups). Consortia are not required.
SPECIFIC ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Startups with TRL 4–8 solutions; scalable and market-oriented innovations; incorporation from 2019 onwards; based in eligible EU or associated sea basin countries; relevant sector alignment; and demonstrated founders’ expertise.
SPECIFIC TOPICS OR CHALLENGES: Development of innovative solutions addressing ocean sustainability, blue economy growth, sustainable marine resources, maritime decarbonisation, and efficiency of marine infrastructures.
PROJECTS DURATION: From April 2026 to September 2027, including an online acceleration phase (April–June 2026), pilot implementation and post-programme support (July 2026–August 2027), and final Demo Day (September 2027).
BUDGET, FUNDING RATES AND PAYMENT CONDITIONS:
Funding rate: Not applicable (no direct funding provided).
Budget conditions / limitations: Programme is free of charge and equity-free.
Payments: No financial grant; support provided in-kind (mentoring, pilot infrastructure, business development, and investor access).
