MaJor 1st Open Call
The open call supports defence-oriented SMEs developing innovative solutions for maintenance, joining and repair of air, land and sea platforms within the MaJoR project.
Type of projects to be funded: The call funds short-term applied research and innovation projects focused on the development, validation or demonstration of technologies and processes for maintenance, joining and repair of defence platforms. Selected projects are expected to address concrete technical challenges and contribute solutions that can be assessed and integrated within the MaJoR innovation test hub.
Sectors / domain: Defence-related technologies for air, land and maritime platforms, with a focus on structural durability, joining solutions and maintenance processes.
Individual or consortium: Individual applicants only. Projects are implemented by single entities acting as recipients of financial support to third parties.
Specific eligibility requirements: Applicants must be legal entities qualifying as SMEs under the EU definition, including start-ups, and must be established in EU Member States, Norway or Ukraine. Elegible SMEs must be controlled by a country or legal entity from a EU territory or from and EDF associated country. Participation of entities other than SMEs is only accepted where no suitable SME applications are available for a given topic. Applicants must comply with ownership, control, ethics, security, operational and financial capacity requirements, and must not have any conflict of interest with MaJoR consortium partners.
Specific topics or challenges: The call addresses five predefined technical topics related to hybrid structures for defence platforms, innovative joining technologies and automated processes, sensing architectures for next-generation platforms, non-destructive testing of joints, and digital tools supporting maintenance and repair activities, as detailed in the call documentation.
Projects duration: Up to 6 months.
Budget, funding rates and payment conditions:
Funding rate: 100%.
Budget conditions / limitations: Up to EUR 60,000 per selected project, provided as a lump-sum financial contribution.
Payments: The grant is paid in three instalments, subject to fulfilment of contractual obligations and delivery of required outputs, (20% upfront depending on the financial capacity check, 70% after succesful mid-term review with the addition of prefinancing if not transferred before, and 10% once the final report is approved).
