LAUDS REPLICATION #2 OPEN CALL
Strives to foster collaborative innovation in digital and emerging technologies by supporting hybrid teams of technology providers and artists/designers to develop sustainable urban manufacturing solutions.
The LAUDS Replication #2 Open Call is seeking innovative proposals for experiments under the LAUDS Factories project. This initiative focuses on enhancing urban manufacturing through digital and sustainable means, encouraging collaborations between technology providers and creative professionals.
Type of projects to be funded: Projects should be innovative experiments that align with the objectives of LAUDS OC#2, particularly addressing the challenges outlined in the Catalogue of Challenges. The experiments must demonstrate a strong art-tech congruency.
Sectors / domain: The call targets the intersection of digital technology and creative industries, encouraging projects that integrate artistic practices with emerging technologies.
Individual or consortium: Applications must be submitted by hybrid teams consisting of at least two legal entities. These include technology providers and artists/designers/creatives/architects.
Specific eligibility requirements: Eligible applicants are those established in EU Member States or Horizon Europe associated countries. Teams must include at least one technology provider and one creative professional:
- Technology providers of digital and emerging technologies: for-profit legal entities, including start-ups, SMEs and midcaps. A beneficiary is qualified as an SME as defined in the EU recommendation 2003/3613.
- Artists/designers/creatives/architects from all artistic fields.
Specific topics or challenges: Projects should address specific challenges listed in the Catalogue of Challenges relevant to LAUDS Factories:
Mobility-related challenges:
- Challenge M1: Designing Effective Solutions for Active and Non-Motorized Transport
- Challenge M2: Imaginative Solutions for Inclusive and Accessible Transportation
- Challenge M3: Reducing Carbon Footprint of Urban Transport Systems
- Challenge M4: Innovative solutions for informed, accessible decision-making
Energy-related challenges:
- Challenge E1: Reimagining Energy Delivery Systems
- Challenge E2: Democratizing energy through DIY Renewable Energy Solutions
- Challenge E3: Reusing Fabrics and Advanced Biomaterials for Energy-Efficient Interiors
Agriculture/Food Production -related challenges:
- Challenge A1: From Waste to Resource: community-driven food waste valorisation solutions
- Challenge A2: Advancing Urban Sustainability Through Community-Based Green Education and Cultivation Systems
- Challenge A3: Local production of affordable and sustainable materials for agriculture.
Projects duration: The duration for each experiment should be between 6 to 9 months.
Budget, funding rates and payment conditions:
- Funding rate: 100%
- Budget conditions / limitations: Each proposal can request a maximum grant of €27,000.
- Payments: Funds are disbursed in three instalments: 40% at project start, 40% after an interim assessment, and 20% upon project completion.
Key dates: The deadline for proposal submission is 4 September 2025, at 17:00 CET. Results are expected to be communicated by 7 October 2025.
