ELIAS- European Lighthouse of AI for sustainability- 1st Open Call

Funding opportunity for SMEs and startups to develop AI-based applications addressing sustainability challenges.

The ELIAS project, funded under Horizon Europe, is launching an open call for SMEs and startups developing AI applications for sustainability. Selected projects will receive financial support and visibility within the European AI ecosystem.

Type of projects to be funded: ELIAS is looking for projects based on AI applications that engage with the network in the categories “Methodology”, “Software/Tools”, “Benchmarks” relevant but not limited to the use cases of ELIAS (see list below) in the scope of AI for Sustainability.

Sectors / domain: Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Sustainability.

Individual or consortium: Only SMEs and startups can apply (consortiums are not mentioned).

Specific eligibility requirements:
- Applicants must be SMEs/startups officially registered in an EU Member State or a Horizon Europe Associated Country.
- Projects may be relevant to the ELIAS use cases (see list below, but not limitted) or provide high-impact AI solutions.
- Projects should reach TRL 5 (technology validated in an industrial environment).
- Organizations linked to the ELIAS consortium cannot apply.

Specific topics or challenges: Applicants should focus on AI for Sustainability, relevant but not limited to the use cases of ELIAS:
- AI for Building Optimization.
- AI for Monitoring the Virtual Infrastructure.
- Responsible, User-centric Advertising.
- Mitigating Misinformed Migrant Perception in the EU.
- AI for Forecasting of Vegetation State.
- Materials Discovery.
- Personalized Co-Piloting Systems.

Projects duration: Up to 6 months.

Budget, funding rates and payment conditions:
- Funding rate: 100% (lump sum grant).
- Budget conditions / limitations: Up to €60,000 per project.
- Payments: The full amount will be paid after the validation of a Final Report, which includes a project summary, a demonstration video, and deliverables.
