EIT Urban Mobility- Strategic Innovation Open Call 1

Aims to support impactful urban mobility innovation by investing in solutions that address pressing challenges and accelerate market adoption through collaboration between public and private European partners.

The EIT Urban Mobility- Strategic Innovation Open Call 1 is designed to accelerate the adoption of innovative solutions, products, and services that address pressing urban mobility challenges. The aim is to support projects that demonstrate strong market potential and a credible path to market, enabling cities and mobility providers to scale and implement proven innovations effectively.

Type of projects to be funded: The call seeks ambitious collaborative projects that focus on commercialisation and have a credible path to market. Projects should be designed for sale to external clients and should be replicable beyond the initial use case. Projects optimising internal operations or lacking a marketable product will be considered out of scope.

Sectors / domain: The call focuses on five sectors: reducing urban logistics externalities, strengthening public transport, enhancing demand-responsive transport, advancing zero-emission urban mobility, and promoting active mobility.

Individual or consortium: Proposals must include a minimum of two independent legal entities from two different EU Member States or third countries associated with Horizon Europe. At least one partner must be identified as the lead commercial partner responsible for contributing to EIT Urban Mobility’s financial sustainability.

Specific eligibility requirements: Eligible applicants must be located in an EU Member State or a Third Country associated with Horizon Europe. The consortium must include a minimum of two independent legal entities from different eligible countries.

Specific topics or challenges: Proposals may target one or more sectors with an emphasis on commercialisation and scalability. The call encourages innovative solutions that address well-identified urban mobility challenges.

Projects duration: Projects can last up to 24 months, with the possibility of a no-cost extension if necessary.

Budget, funding rates and payment conditions:
IMPORTANT NOTE: lead commercial partner will have to contribute to the EIT Urban Mobility’s financial sustainability mechanism.
Funding rate: Up to 65% of eligible project costs.
Budget conditions / limitations: Each project may receive up to 2 million EUR of EIT funding.

Key dates:
- Call opening: 19 June 2025
- First cut-off date: 23 September 2025 (17h00 CET)
- Subsequent cut-off dates: February 2026, June 2026, February 2027, June 2027.
