EIT Health - Call for University Incubators and Entrepreneurship Support Providers

Funding a consortium of a University Incubator and an Entrepreneurship Support Provider to deliver venture-building support for Master’s and PhD students developing early-stage healthcare solutions.

TYPE OF PROJECTS TO BE FUNDED: Delivery of the “Beyond the Idea: From Concept to Venture” programme for Master’s and PhD students developing early-stage healthcare solutions. The selected consortium will deliver programme activities including masterclasses, mentoring and a final Pitch Day for two cohorts, helping participants assess the commercial potential of their innovations, develop business models and venture roadmaps, and progress towards company creation.

SECTORS / DOMAIN: Education and Training; Life Sciences and Health, with a focus on healthcare entrepreneurship, venture creation and the translation of early-stage healthcare innovations into validated venture opportunities.

INDIVIDUAL OR CONSORTIUM: Consortium applications are required. The consortium must consist of 1 University Incubator and 1 Entrepreneurship Support Provider.

SPECIFIC ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: The University Incubator must be an organisational unit established by a higher education institution that provides structured incubation services, mentoring and business support for research- and innovation-based start-ups. The Entrepreneurship Support Provider must be an organisation specialised in venture creation, such as a venture builder, incubator, accelerator, innovation consultancy or entrepreneurship support organisation. The consortium must demonstrate experience in venture building and combine understanding of the academic environment with practical expertise in areas such as customer validation, business development, mentoring and venture creation.

SPECIFIC TOPICS OR CHALLENGES: The programme focuses on bridging the gap between academic healthcare innovation and venture creation. Activities should equip participating Master’s and PhD students with entrepreneurial skills, practical knowledge and ecosystem connections to validate the commercial feasibility of their early-stage healthcare solutions and prepare them for potential company creation.

PROJECTS DURATION: The programme activities will be delivered for 2 cohorts over 2 years.

BUDGET, FUNDING RATES AND PAYMENT CONDITIONS:
Funding rate: 50% rate, with a 50% co-funding from non-EIT Health/KIC sources.
Budget conditions / limitations: Funding of up to €36,000 is available in 2027 and up to €36,000 in 2028.
Payments: 50% in 2027 and 50% in 2028.
