AUTOASSESS Open Call for Tech Solutions
AUTOASSESS is seeking innovative tech solutions from SMEs and startups to enhance autonomous vessel inspection using robotics and AI, focusing on five specific challenges related to drone navigation, communication, and AI-driven inspection tools, with a €500,000 budget to fund five projects for six months.
Type of projects to be funded: AUTOASSESS focuses on innovative tech solutions to enhance the autonomous robotic inspection of ballast tanks and cargo holds in maritime vessels. The open call is to foster/promote the development & deployment of AUTOASSESS solution through the engagement of innovative technological startups & SMEs
applying to the open call providing solutions to specific project’s challenges, such as drone navigation, communication, and AI-driven inspection tools.
Sectors / domain: Maritime industry, robotics, AI, drone technology, telecommunications, and sensor fusion.
Individual or consortium: Applications are open to individual SMEs or startups, and consortia of up to two SMEs/startups.
Specific eligibility requirements:
- Open to entities legally established in the EU Member States or Horizon Europe Associated Countries.
- UK and Swiss entities can apply but must cover their own costs.
- Each applicant can only submit one proposal per challenge.
- Applicants must not have a conflict of interest with the AUTOASSESS consortium.
Specific topics or challenges: Applicants must address one of the following five challenges:
1️⃣ Reliable high-bandwidth communication for off-board drone control.
2️⃣ Stereo event-camera integration on a miniature drone.
3️⃣ Human operator interface for autonomous drone inspections.
4️⃣ Crack detection using multi-element ultrasound transducer.
5️⃣ Synchronization of multi-modal sensor data for drone operations.
Projects duration: 6 months (July – December 2025).
Budget, funding rates, and payment conditions:
- Funding rate: 70% for SMEs, 100% for startups.
- Budget conditions / limitations: Up to €100,000 per project.
- Payments: 40% at the end of Month 1 (Planning phase); 20% at the mid-stage of development; 20% at the end-stage of development; 20% at project completion.
