The AIRISE.EU Open Call for Pilot Applications on AI in Manufacturing seeks to support European SMEs and mid-caps in developing and deploying AI solutions on their manufacturing floors. Specifically in the Call for Pilot
Applications, AIRISE intends to support manufacturing SMEs with prior positive experience in AI to scale up use of AI solutions in their shopfloor towards improving sustainability and/or resilience of their businesses.
Type of projects to be funded: The call supports projects that propose innovative AI applications to enhance manufacturing environments, focusing on economic and technological viability.
Sectors / domain: Manufacturing, with a focus on AI solutions.
Individual or consortium: The call is open to individual SMEs and mid-caps (not consortium).
Specific eligibility requirements:
- Applicants must be European SMEs or mid-caps with prior positive experience in AI and existing IT infrastructure.
- Any legal entity that applies for financial support needs to have a PIC number.
- The AI solution must be implemented in a manufacturing environment.
- Subcontracting should be minimal (≤15% of total costs).
Specific topics or challenges: The anticipated AI application must address at least one of the following objectives:
- Improve the sustainability of processes and products, significantly reduce or reuse waste and must lower the energy and carbon footprint.
- Make industrial processes more agile, secure and resilient to future changes.
- Make manufacturing jobs more attractive for humans, whichever the age, gender or social and cultural background, through better human-machine interfaces and more intuitive interaction with digital tools.
Projects duration: Expected to last between 8 to 14 months. A suitable workplan/Gantt chart is expected to be prepared by the applicant. The workplan needs to comprise 3 phases: Initialisation, Implementation and Validation.
Budget, funding rates and payment conditions:
- Funding rate: 70% of the total cost
- Budget conditions / limitations: Maximum financial support of €60,000 per third party
- Payments: 30% after the initialisation report approval, 40% after the implementation report approval, and 30% after the validation report and approval by the commission.
