Safeguarding europe’s digital future: Join the PQ-REACT initiative against quantum threats

Be part of the solution: Apply as an evaluator by September 9th or submit your project by September 30th

As we move closer to the era of quantum computing, the security of our digital communications and data is at risk. Quantum computers, with their immense processing power, will soon be able to crack cryptographic algorithms that currently protect sensitive information. This looming threat makes it essential for Europe to develop new cryptographic methods that can withstand quantum attacks.

The Project

The PQ-REACT project, funded by the European Union, is leading the development of post-quantum cryptography to protect critical technologies like Smart Grids, 5G networks, Blockchain, and Quantum Key Distribution. The project brings together top European institutions and companies, including the University of Athens, Atos, and Ericsson, ensuring a comprehensive approach that combines academic research with practical implementation.

Info Day for Open Call 1

Play Video

To further assist potential applicants, PQ-REACT recently held an Info Day focusing on Open Call #1, specifically covering the 5G and 6G architectures and Smart Energy Meters use cases. During this session, participants had the opportunity to ask questions, receive a comprehensive explanation of the Open Call, and explore its aim, procedures, and evaluation criteria. Detailed information about the specific use cases was also provided, giving participants valuable insights into how their contributions could align with the project’s goals. If you missed the live session, you can watch the recording here.

Open Call for Evaluators

Recently, the first open call for Evaluators was launched, and the response is so far, encouraging. As of September 2, 2024, the applications received, have been submitted from a diverse set of countries, with Spain, Italy, and the United Kingdom leading the way. This geographical diversity reflects the broad interest and the importance of post-quantum cryptography across Europe.

Furthermore, the gender distribution of the evaluators shows a positive trend towards inclusivity, with a balanced representation of female and male experts. This balance is crucial for ensuring a wide range of perspectives in the evaluation process.

Why Apply?

PQ-REACT is currently seeking contributions through open calls for applicants and evaluators. These opportunities offer a chance for SMEs and researchers to shape the future of cybersecurity, ensuring that Europe remains resilient in the face of quantum advancements.

Deadlines for applicants and evaluators

It’s important to note that the evaluators call will be closing on the 9th of September, 2024. If you’re interested in contributing as an evaluator, make sure to submit your application before this date. You can apply HERE.

For those interested in the applicants call, the deadline is on the 30th of September, 2024. This is a unique opportunity to propose innovative solutions that could shape the future of post-quantum cryptography. Don’t miss your chance to apply HERE.

This collaborative effort is essential for developing the robust cryptographic methods that Europe needs to protect its digital future against the quantum threat. If you’re ready to contribute to this critical mission, now is the time to get involved.

The PQ-REACT Open Call #1 is open until September 30

Don’t miss the chance to be part of this critical initiative. Whether you’re an innovator with a solution to propose or an expert ready to evaluate cutting-edge approaches, your contribution can help safeguard Europe’s digital future.
