Funding SMEs and self-employed individuals to develop, scale up, commercialise or adopt space-enabled green solutions using downstream space data for the green and digital transition.

TYPE OF PROJECTS TO BE FUNDED: Projects using downstream space data and services to design, scale up, commercialise or adopt space-enabled green solutions that contribute to more sustainable and circular business practices, processes and products. Three project types are supported: Ideation projects for research-focused activities for new or immature ideas; Scale-Up projects for testing and validation of proven concepts; and Commercialisation projects supporting the final steps towards solution validation. Eligible services may cover technical, business, social and environmental, and funding and financing activities delivered by External Service Providers.

SECTORS / DOMAIN: Space-enabled green and digital solutions with a particular focus on circularity and resource efficiency, sustainable management of primary, secondary and critical raw materials, and improved environmental monitoring.

INDIVIDUAL OR CONSORTIUM: Applications must be submitted by single entities. Eligible applicants are self-employed individuals, micro enterprises, small enterprises and medium-sized enterprises, including start-ups and scale-ups. Consortia are not eligible under this call.

SPECIFIC ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be legally registered, by the call deadline, in an EU Member State and its Overseas Countries and Territories or in a Horizon Europe Associated Country, including Switzerland. Applicants must demonstrate their potential to use downstream space data, such as Earth Observation, remote sensing or satellite navigation, to create solutions with a positive environmental impact.

SPECIFIC TOPICS OR CHALLENGES: Projects must use downstream space data to support the green and digital transition. The call particularly targets improved circularity and resource and waste management; safe, resource-efficient and environmentally friendly management of primary, secondary and critical raw materials; and improved environmental monitoring. Projects may address either transformation within the applicant's own processes or solutions providing environmental benefits to the applicant's users.

PROJECTS DURATION: Up to 6 months from the starting date established in the Sub-grant Agreement.

BUDGET, FUNDING RATES AND PAYMENT CONDITIONS:
Funding rate: 100% lump sum..
Budget conditions / limitations: The total call budget is €694,520, subject to adjustment after completion of the contracting process for the first FIERCE Open Call. Each beneficiary may receive a maximum of €50,000. Ideation projects may receive up to €25,000, Scale-Up projects up to €50,000 and Commercialisation projects up to €25,000. Applicants to Ideation or Commercialisation projects may submit up to two separate and clearly different projects, provided that the total financial support per beneficiary does not exceed €50,000. The full lump-sum voucher value is allocated to the External Service Provider(s), and no additional costs are reimbursed.
Payments: The grant is paid as a lump sum in a single payment at the end of the programme, subject to the successful and timely completion of the work plan established in the approved Transformation Plan and verification of the results.
