CASCADE FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES - JANUARY 2025

BioProtect – Call for Associated regions to support the protection and restoration of biodiversity. Enhance the effectiveness, resilience, and flexibility of solutions to safeguard and restore biodiversity.

The BioProtect project provides financial and technical support to five regions to implement tools for biodiversity protection and restoration. Eligible applicants include local/regional authorities from EU Member States and associated countries (excluding project partner regions, see guidelines). Participants gain access to advanced tools like the BioProtect PPGIS Analyser and Marine Planner, training, and resources to refine solutions, engage stakeholders, and expand Marine Protected Areas. The initiative supports Marine Spatial Planning and ecosystem restoration aligned with Nature Restoration Law targets.

ScienceUs – Open Call. ScienceUs is launching a call to fund and support citizen science projects focused on climate change adaptation, starting with 25 selected initiatives and further scaling five of them for greater impact.

The ScienceUs project is launching an Open Call to support and scale up outstanding Citizen Science initiatives addressing climate change adaptation, aligned with the EU mission “Adaptation to Climate Change.” Through a three-phase program (Seed, Flourish, and Harvest), 25 selected projects will receive funding and technical assistance, with five advancing to later stages for broader implementation. The initiative focuses on transnational collaboration, upscaling citizen science campaigns, and engaging policymakers and stakeholders to generate widespread impact. Eligible projects include those addressing sectors such as nature conservation, infrastructure, public services, energy, water, and health systems, led by legal entities from EU Member States or Horizon Europe-associated countries.

LIVEMX 2024 Call 3. LIVEMX aims to support diversity and sustainability in the European music sector through targeted funding addressing key needs in music export, live venues, and digital engagement.

Supported by Music Moves Europe, the program focuses on three key areas: music export (cross-border co-creation, innovative artist promotion and professional networking), live music venues (artist circulation, ecological sustainability and audience development), and digital circulation and engagement ( Projects are expected to propose digital solutions to the challenges faced in the above areas, including the application of existing digital tools, training of professionals and development of conceptual solutions.)

Farmtopia Open Call. Democratizing digital farming through smart solutions for small farms

The Farmtopia Open Call seeks to attract small consortia composed of an Agricultural Digital Solutions (ADS) provider (an SME) and an end-user (a small or medium farm). These partnerships will co-create and test smart solutions for small and medium farms, promoting awareness of the benefits of integrating ADS in agricultural operations and enhancing access to digital technologies. The Open Call will select nine new Sustainable Innovation Pilots (SIPs) in regions and crops not currently served by Farmtopia, leveraging the latest developments and innovations in the field.

SUSRUR 2024 Call 3Towards SUStainability and resilient scenarios for tourism SMEs in RUral & Remote Areas

The SUSRUR project’s COLLABORATE Program is targeting SMEs in the tourism sector across five European rural and remote areas.

ARISE Open Call 1. Open-Source, real-time middleware for Human Robotic Interaction for Industry

In its first Open Call, ARISE will provide funding of up to EUR 200,000 for each of the 13 selected projects focused on HRI-enabled solutions for industrial robotics automation. The funding will be distributed throughout the 12-month Support Program, contingent on the successful submission of technical and business reports by the participating projects.

In Transit 2024 Call 2 DEVELOP. Strengthening the resilience of textile, aerospace, and construction SMEs to transition towards greener and more digital sectors with social and business innovation

The In Transit project has launched its 2nd Open Call, DEVELOP, with €1.5 million available to fund sustainable innovations in textiles, aerospace, advanced manufacturing, and construction. This call offers lump-sum vouchers for innovative SMEs, with up to €49,000 in funding per SME and up to €98,000 for consortium projects.

In addition, selected projects will receive a 50-hour coaching support package to accelerate their launch to market.

EffecTrial 2025. Fostering pragmatic comparative effectiveness trials in non-communicable diseases.

The EffecTrial2025 Open Call supports multi-country, randomized clinical studies on cardiovascular diseases, metabolic disorders, nutrition-related diseases, and non-communicable respiratory diseases. Proposals must compare approved healthcare interventions and demonstrate health, economic, and policy impacts. Studies should follow ethical guidelines, include diverse populations, and engage patients in the research process. Studies must have a duration of up to 48 months and adhere to Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) principles. Proposals focused on rare diseases, cancer, or infectious diseases are excluded.

FORWARDS 2024 – Characterization of European forest disturbances. The ForestWard Observatory to Secure Resilience of European Forests.
